Tribe Rules
May 27th, 2007 by Dave Lester
Welcome to your new home.
You are now a Tribal Member of (name goes here) and are expected to fallow all the rules and culture of this tribe.
As a new member you are given the name “Tenderfoot” and will be called that until given a tribal name by the Elders. As a tenderfoot you are on probation and expected to do as you’re told by the tribal leaders and elders. Failour to act in a manner congruent to the tribe can get you…..
A. A name most displeasing.
B. Sanctioned from the Tribe (not spoken to)
C. Tempararly ejected (3 days to 2 weeks)
D. Scalped, Hung by the ankles and skinned alive while fire ants are poured on the wounds, kicked out and never to [be] returned.
Here are a list of rules…..
This tribe is a community, no one is a loner here. When going out to the town or other places you are expected to bring at least one other tribe member with you. Going out alone is suspicous and dangerous behavior bring a friend. Let others know when you are in the sim or leaving. Keep an eye out for each other.
Everyone is expected to be at tribal events unless it interfears with RL. These will be Tribe only events with non-whites. No whites allowed in these events such as tribal pow wows, dances, spirit quests and namings of new members (new member not allowed in) and any others that might ariase. There will also be events where we invite outsiders in such as open pow wows and trade culture events. (For cultureal events please find out as much about Navajo Indians of the Southwest, the more you know about them the better it is for our tribe.
Woman roles in the tribe.
Because this is SL and not RL there are some leeways to roles in the Tribe. There were no women Chiefs or Warroirs but woman played a cruicial role as Elders and leaders. When men were few women even became warriors to protect the tribe. Woman did not prance around full of weapons and in string bikinis but since there isn’t much in traditional clothing it will be hard to cover yourself but keep in mind that you are to cover yourselves as much as possible. If possible there will be a division of married women and single women with different styles of dress and hair. Single women will be as hunters/warriors and scouts where married (doesn’t mean you have a husband in game but choose to be married) will be elders and leaders. Women are expected to serve their husbands in all ways.
Men in the tribe.
There is only one Chief and one Medicine man/woman. Single males are warriors, hunters and scouts, it is unlikely a single male would be a Leader or Elder in the tribe. Married (if you choose to be, you’re not required to have a wife) men where Elders and Leaders and Leaders of the warriors and were expected to have high honor, Men can have many wifes (some tribes allowed this) as long as he could proved for them but the more wives the less time to be a warrior.
Culture.
There is a high degree of creativity in Native American Culture so the better you are at role playing, creating items or scripting the higher value you have in the tribe. It is expected that you start to learn to make things for the tribe and if you need help learning please contact Emily Darrow for lessions in prim design. There is a great sense of family and protection in this culture and we protect our own. It is not unheard of a whole tribe traviling a hundred miles to get one person back after they had been captured. As important as the single tribe member is the tribe as a whole comes first. The Cheif’s word is law and only a majority of Elders can over ride the Chief which rarely happens. There are usually 5 or more elders but I think for SL we should stick to 5 Elders including the Chief. The Elders and Cheif choose your name based on who you are, once you have that name you will need to display it proudly even if you find it distaistful. Remember your name reflects you and how you act. Most native americans have a wicked sense of humor and making fun of people is not only good fun but a good way to bond but please only make fun of the enemy (whites in most cases) and not your brothers and sisters. Remember be creative and make the jokes fit the person you make fun of.
The whites.
We don’t like them…. But we arn’t savages and out of control either. Whites are good for trade and weapons so we have to keep a balance to get guns and supplies. One thing though is we believe in a life for a life and this could be an issue is someone from the tribe gets themselves killed in town. Any Armed Whites coming into our lands is fair game and most likely won’t survive an encounter unless they choose to leave naked and humble. White woman often were playthings for single braves and found their womanhood a bit battered from the encounter but rarely were they killed. Children often were adopted if their parents were dead and made full members of the tribe so no mistreatment of our adopted children. All soldiors entering our lands are killed outright unless there is a treaty made. They travel in groups so once again for safty sakes don’t ever travil alone. Alone and armed is a fast way to die. Don’t expect the white men to talk first if you’re armed. Don’t go into town armed, an armed Indian is fair game in town. Going unarmed means you’re there to trade in peace. If you have the HUD off and guns put away then no one can shoot you.
